they FAIL. Replacing them is much more difficult than installing an Electronic Boost Controller. I went the EBC route and haven't had any issues with "low boost" since. The "little skips" issue IMO, points to a bad connection problem(s) associated with the 92' engine bay harness. Before I replaced mine, the idle would vary sometimes when I would shut the drivers door too hard, pointing to a connection short of some kind. No problems since replacing the harness.
